Wood pests
Wood pests — above all woodworm and other wood-boring beetles — damage log houses, beams and furniture from the inside for years before anything is visible. Larvae chew tunnels in the timber and weaken its load-bearing capacity.
When you need this service
- Small round exit holes on the wood surface
- Fine wood dust under the holes or around furniture
- Faint ticking in the timber, especially in spring and summer
- Wood that feels soft or sounds hollow when tapped
How it works
- Assessment of damage extent and activity
- Treatment with wood preservatives — surface application and injection where needed
- Moisture control — damp timber attracts pests
- Re-assessment during the next flight season
For serious damage to load-bearing structures (beams, rafters), also involve a structural expert — treatment stops the pest but does not restore load capacity.
